BROOMFIELD, Colo.- The Yellow Jackets fell to 0-1 in conference play as they dropped the first game of their first series versus the Adams State Grizzlies in their neutral site game at the Holy Family H.S. Softball Field in Broomfield, Colorado. The Yellow Jackets had a 9-2 lead in the game, but were unable to hold on as ASU fought back and took the win. They were in the middle of game two, but it was suspended due to darkness and will resume at 10 AM tomorrow.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 1
- Jayde Garcia started out the game with a single and then Emily Sauvageau doubled to score Garcia and was thrown out trying to reach third. With no one on, Kaylie Eyl and Caylie Eiguren singled to get to first and second and then both advanced on a wild pitch. Ali Davis hit a sac fly to score Eyl and make it 2-0 with two outs. The next two batters reached on walks to load the bases before Kaitlyn Geschwill struck out the final batter to get out of the inning with ASU getting a 2-0 lead.
- Delaney Milanowski singled to start the bottom of the second and advanced to second on a fielding error. She then advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly. This brought the score to 2-1.
- BHSU broke up the bottom of the third inning when Lily Simmons and Carly Reyes Mims started with singles. After a strikeout, Sammie Kaufman-Warner doubled to score both runners and take a 3-2 lead. Caylee Mann hit an infield single and with two outs, Audrey Fouras doubled to score both Kaufman-Warner and Mann and make it 5-2. Brooklyn Theiler singled to score Fouras and then advanced to second on the throw before Anna Gietzen singled to score Theiler and make it 7-2.
- In the bottom of the fourth, Reyes Mims walked and Jessica Melendez hit an infield single to put runners on first and second. The next two batters got out, but get Reyes Mims and Melendez into scoring position. Delaney Milanowski hit a single to score both runners and make it 9-2 through four innings.
- Slowly, but surely, Adams started coming back. In the top of the fifth, Eyl walked and Eiguren singled to put runners on first and second. Davis singled to score Eyl and Alexis Gonzales, who was a pinch runner, scored on a fielder's choice to make it 9-4. After a bunt single by Denae Ojeda, Devree Godinez singled to score Brylynn Haddick and make it 9-5 through 4.5 innings.
- In the top of the sixth inning, Sauvageau singled and Eyl singled to put Sauvageau on third base. Eyl stole second and Sauvageau scored on a sacrifice fly by Davis. This made the score 9-6.
- Denae Ojeda started the top of the seventh with a triple and Godinez singled to score Ojeda. Geschwill got a strikeout and Garcia reached on a fielding error which put the pinch runner on second. Sauvageau singled to score Payton Torres and Garcia made it to third as the score reached 9-8. Adams tied up the game when Eiguren reached on another fielding error and tied the score at 9-9. They then took the lead on a Davis single and jumped to an 11-9 lead on a Haddick single. BHSU was unable to score in the bottom half and the Grizzlies won 11-9.
