Yellow Jackets Shut Down ThunderWolves For Tenth RMAC Win

PUEBLO, Colo.- The Yellow Jackets got off to an incredibly hot start leading by 21 through the first quarter and then they never even let Pueblo get close. CSUP got the lead down to as close as seven, but BHSU never really faltered, they used strong inside passing to keep growing the lead and strong rebounding gave them another win for their third straight win. Brinlee McRae and Taylin Serlen combined for 27 points, while Bradie Schlabs had a career-high 11 assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Maureen Ulrich took the opening tip for a layup and then Brinlee McRae got the next seven points including a three-pointer to jump out to a 9-0 lead. CSU Pueblo got on the board just over two minutes into the game to make it 9-2. The Yellow Jackets went on a 9-2 run with four points from Alli Glasscock, a three from McRae, and a layup from Ulrich to make it 18-4 before CSUP hit a three to make it 18-7. BHSU ended the quarter on an 8-0 run with two jumpers from Tess Rule, a layup from Serlen, and a buzzer-beater jumper from Schlabs to send BHSU into the second quarter up 19 at 26-7
  • Glasscock started the second quarter with a layup and CSU Pueblo made back to back threes to cut the lead at 28-13. BHSU made a free throw before the Thunderwolves made a three and a layup to cut the lead even further to 29-18. The two teams traded two free throws at 31-20 to go into half with BHSU up 11.
  • Halftime leaders for the Yellow Jackets included McRae who had ten points and three rebounds and Glasscock who had six points and four rebounds. Schlabs had four points, five rebounds, and five assists. For CSU Pueblo, Seneya Martinez was the lone scorer who had nine points on 3-3 from deep who had more than four points.
  • Serlen started the third quarter with a layup and Martinez hit another three to make it 33-23. Serlen hit another layup and the ThunderWolves made two free throws to keep the lead at ten. Dasani Nesbit made a jumper to get the lead to eight and single digits for the first time since 6:32 remaining in the first quarter. Audrey Norville hit a free throw and Laci Roffle made a layup to get the score to 36-29. The seven point margin was the closest CSUP got. BHSU went on a 9-5 run with Serlen making tow layups and Schlabs making a free throw and jumper to make it an 13-point lead at 45-32. Martinez made a jumper and Schlabs made a layup to get the score to 47-34 heading into the fourth quarter.
  • CSU Pueblo started the fourth with a single free throw and then McRae hit a jumper and Serlen got a three-point play to make it 52-35. The ThunderWolves went on a 7-2 run to cut the lead to 54-42. Glasscock and McRae each made baskets to get it to 58-42 and CSU Pueblo was able to get the lead down to 12 with a 6-2 run to end the game as BHSU took their third in a row.
