CHADRON, Neb.- The Yellow Jackets were able to complete a sweep of the Eagles as BHSU took both doubleheader games on Saturday as they scored a combined 21 runs and had a third run-rule this series in game four when they won 8-0 in a one-hit shutout. The Yellow Jackets scored a combined 49 runs in the four games series and broke the D2 era record for home runs in a series with 11. BHSU saw four home runs in game three that included the first grand slam of the season this year by
Lily Simmons and two by
Carly Reyes Mims and
Desi Hernandez added another in game four.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 1
- Reyes Mims walked to start the game which was the third straight game this has happened. Jessica Melendez hit into a fielder's choice to put her at first and Sammie Kaufman-Warner hit her second home run of the series to put BHSU up 2-0 early.
- In the bottom of the first, Charley Pitrat walked, but was out on a fielder's choice that put Selfors on. Selfors was then caught stealing to clear the bases. Elizabeth Thorngren doubled and scored on a double by Payton Sullivan double to make it 1-0.
- For the first time this series, no runs were scored an inning as we headed to the top of the third at 2-1. The Yellow Jackets broke it open in the top of the third when Kaufman-Warner reached on an error with one out. She then stole second and was originally called out, but it was overturned and she was pronounced safe. Caylee Mann walked, Carli Maley singled to scored Kaufman-Warner and make it 3-1 and Audrey Fouras walked to load the bases. Brooklyn Theiler singled to score a run and make it 4-1 and Lily Simmons pounded a ball to left center for a grand slam to make it 8-1. Reyes Mims made it back-to-back homers with a solo shot of her own to put it at 9-1.
- In the bottom of the third, an opening groundout was followed by the next three batters making it to base to load them up and a groundout scored Selfors to put it at 9-2. Tiffani Mein walked to load the bases again and Brogan Allen hit a two-run singled to bring the score to 9-4.
- In the top of the fourth, Kaufman-Warner reached on another error and after two flyouts, she advanced to third on a single by Maley. They both scored on a double by Audrey Fouras which made the score 11-4 and Theiler singled to score Fouras to put BHSU up 12-4.
- In the bottom of the fourth, Ella DeLozier singled and Pitrat doubled to put runners on second and third, Dakota Poag entered the game at pitcher and gave up a single to score DeLozier and put Pitrat on third with the score at 12-5. After a strikeout, Selfors stole second, and Sullivan reached on a fielder's choice to load the bases. With two outs, Mein singled to score two and make it 12-7 and a Katelynn Czerpak singled scored another to make it 12-8.
- In the top of the fifth, Reyes hit a solo home run to lead off the inning and make it 13-8. In the bottom of that inning, Selfors walked with one out and was out at second on a fielder's choice with Thorngren reaching. Sullivan reached on an error and Brianna Cordray singled to score Thorngren and make the score 13-9. Mein singled to score Sullivan and get it down to 13-10.
- No runs were scored in the next three half innings and in the bottom of the second, Selfors singled and advanced to second on an error. She advanced to third on a groundout and scored on a two-out singled to Cordray. She advanced to second on a throwing error, but Poag got a groundout to end the game at 13-11.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 2
- No runs were scored in the first two innings as Paige Goodell threw two no-hit innings. In the top of third, Simmons singled and Reyes Mims walked to begin the top of the third inning with one out. Melendez singled to score Simmons and make it 1-0. Kaufman-Warner singled to load the bases and Hernandez was hit by pitch to make it 2-0. Mann singled to score another at 3-0 and Maley walked to make it 4-0. Theiler hit a sacrifice fly to add another at 5-0 and send BHSU into a good lead.
- Sophia Honse took over for Goodell in the third inning and struck out the side. In the top of the fourth, Simmons singled and so did Reyes Mims to put runners on first and second. A sacrifice bunt put both runners on second and third and Simmons scored on a Kaufman-Warner groundout to make it 6-0. Desi Hernandez hit a deep two-run homer for their 11th home run of the weekend to make it 8-0 and put BHSU in a run-rule situation.
- Brogan Allen singled to break up the combined no-hitter in the fourth inning, but didn't score after a groundout ended the inning. Honse got around two walks in the fifth inning to not allow a run and take the win 8-0 in the fifth inning.

The Yellow Jackets will head back home next weekend where they will face the Regis Rangers on Saturday and Sunday at the usual times. BHSU will look to get their third series win in a row.
