SPEARFISH, S.D.- Sammie Kaufman-Warner had four doubles and only got out one time today as she was a big part in a massive split over the Rangers as BHSU fell in game one, but were able to grab a win in a pitcher's duel where the score was 1-0 or less for 5.5 innings.
Sophia Honse was the pitcher's duel winner as she tossed her first complete game of her career, hit a career-high six strikeouts and helped BHSU take that split in game two. The Yellow Jackets held nine runners on base for Regis in game two and they also got some major outs on the basepaths defensively as well.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 2
- Honse got around a leadoff single in the first inning as no runs were scored on either half of the first despite Kaufman-Warner hitting her third double of the day. In the second inning, Alyssa Wong reached on an infield single and advanced to second on a walk. Maley reached on a fielder's choice which got Wong out at third before Theiler scored on a double by Lily Simmons as Maley was thrown out at home to end the inning with the Yellow Jackets taking a one-run lead.
- That was it for scoring until the seventh inning as Honse pitched a masterclass of leaving runners on base as she held eight runners on base between the first and sixth innings without allowing a run and striking out a season-high six batters in only the second start of her season. Crappell for Regis also had nine batters left on base as well in this high intensity pitcher's duel. Regis had runners in scoring position in every single inning and only scored one run in the seventh as did BHSU, who only turned those runners into one run from innings one through five.
- In the bottom of the sixth inning was where it completely flipped for BHSU. Nursing a 1-0 lead, Simmons walked and stole second base with two outs. Reyes Mims doubled to score her and make it 2-0 BHSU. Melendez singled to score Reyes Mims and make it 3-0. Kaufman-Warner walked which Melendez tried stealing on the fourth ball pitch, the catcher still threw it not realizing the count, and the ball got away from the second basemen which allowed Melendez to steal third too. Kaufman-Warner stole second to put both runners in scoring position and Hernandez rewarded them with a two-out, stand-up triple to score both runners and give BHSU a 5-0 advantage.
- In the top of the seventh inning, Olivia Wick tripled with one out, and then with two outs, Wick scored on a passed ball to make it 5-1. Smith singled to the infield before Honse induced a groundout to end the game and get her first complete game of her career.
