RAPID CITY, S.D. - The Yellow Jackets were able to improve on their 357 (+69) from yesterday and improved by five shots with 352 (+64) on day two. Three of the four girls today were able to shoot in the 80s as they finished in fourth place in the tournament, staying in the same spot they finished in yesterday. BHSU was able to play a lot better early on in the round starting on the back nine in a shotgun start this morning. The Yellow Jackets continued to be led by the duo of Katie Jorgenson and Shelbi Gardner with Leyni Stavola also putting up a solid round.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Shelbi Gardner led the way for BHSU at the end of 36 holes with a score of 170 (+26) and put up a second round score of 86 (+14) after putting up an 84 (+12) yesterday. She continues to put up consistency and she started her round +5 thru 11 with a birdie on the par 5 16^th hole. She made two more pars the rest of the round before finishing with an unfortunate triple bogey on her final hole. She still finished in the top 15 with a T13 finish and was only four shots back of the top 10.
• Katie Jorgenson led the team today by shooting a BHSU tournament low of 83 (+11) today en route to a 36-hole score of 172 (+28) today after posting an 89 (+17) yesterday, she drastically improved today in standings as she moved into solo 15^th place. This was mostly due to her incredible front nine, where she shot a 37 (+1) in the nine holes with two birdies. She made a birdie on hole one, which has been a nemesis of the Yellow Jackets this tournament, and then made a birdie on the par 3 fifth hole before ending the nine with three pars in four holes and she sat at +8 thru 16 holes.
• Leyni Stavola once again finished third on the team, but improved by four shots from yesterday to shoot a 36-hole 178 (+34) after an 18-hole score of 87 (+15) today and got back into the 80s after a 91 (+19) yesterday. This also skyrocketed her into a top 20 position and into a tie for 17^th place. She started her round going +4 thru the first six holes and had a solid front nine that included a birdie on the par three eighth hole. She ended up with six pars and a birdie.
• Olivia McCandless was fourth on the team today and fourth on the team overall after shooting a 191 (+47). She finished just one shot worse than yesterday by shooting a 96 (+24) today after shooting a 95 (+23) yesterday to place in a tie for 21^st. She only made worse than bogey four times today, but also only made one par on the day, which came on hole one

BHSU are officially done with the regular season. The Yellow Jackets will try to bring back the momentum they had going into this tournament and use it to finish strong at the RMAC Championships, which will be played at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada.
