BOULDER CITY, Nev. - The Yellow Jackets, for the fifth time this Spring, broke 330 as a team and shot a 328 (+40) to sit in ninth after round one of the RMAC Championships. Despite the great round, BHSU was unable to jump SDM or Chadron early as both teams put up better scores, the Yellow Jackets will have two more days to jump out of their preseason projected position. The Yellow Jackets had three players shoot 82 or lower with
Abbi Beld bouncing back and leading the way and
Leyni Stavola putting up one of her best rounds of the year.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Abbi Beld is BHSU's leader in the clubhouse as she sits in a tie for 39th place with an 80 (+8) on the first day of the tournament. Beld started her day with a birdie, before a rough stretch of six holes dropped her to +6 for the day early, however she turned that around quickly parring nine of the last 11 holes with only bogeys on 11 and 12 to shoot her great round which included a 38 (+2) on the back nine.
- Leyni Stavola was next putting her in second best 18-hole round of the year today with an 81 (+9) to put her into solo 42nd place. Stavola started her day incredibly strong shooting a 39 (+3) on the front nine with six pars. After three straight bogeys to begin the back nine, Stavola made four pars in five holes to keep her at +7 before ending her day with an unfortunate double bogey on the final hole, but she made ten total pars on the round today and only had one hole worse than bogey on the day.
- Shelbi Gardner was next, the consistent freshman, continued that today with an 82 (+10) to put her in a tie for 43rd through day one. She started off a little rough making a double bogey on hole two, but she then proceeded to make eight pars in nine holes and finished the round with 11 pars. She also matched Stavola with a double on the last hole, but still put up a great round.
- Olivia McCandless was the fourth score taken by the Yellow Jackets today as she shot an 85 (+13) to sit in a tie for 49th. A birdie on hole nine put her in great position going into the back nine after she shot a 44 (+8) on the front. After a rough stretch of holes to begin the back nine, she finished off making five pars in the final six holes to shoot a 41 (+5) on the back. She ended up making eight pars and a birdie today.
- Makaela Swanson was fifth on the team with a 86 (+14) that put her in a tie for 52nd. She only had one hole worse than bogey all day and had a double-free 42 (+6) on the front nine with three pars. She made another three pars on the back nine, with only a rough hole on 13 keeping her outside the top four on BHSU's squad. She put together a solid round.
- Katie Jorgenson rounded out BHSU's roster, posting an 89 (+17). This put her in a tie for 55th. She started off her day only +3 through the first five holes with two pars, before a rough stretch to finish the nine. She did make a birdie on the back nine, which allowed her to shoot at 44 (+8) on that half with two pars. She ended with five pars and a birdie on the day.
