EMPORIA, Kan. – The Black Hills State University track & field team saw their weekend get underway on Thursday night at Francis G. Welch Stadium at the 2026 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Making her national championship debut,
Evie Boyd, was the lone competitor for the Yellow Jackets on day one as she recorded a 17
th place finish in the 3,000m steeplechase in a field loaded with RMAC talent. Boyd's appearance on the track marked the first BHSU women's athlete at the outdoor national championships since 2022, and just the second-ever participant in the 3,000m steeplechase at the championships in the DII era.

HOW IT HAPPENED – WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD
- In an RMAC-heavy field in the 3,000m steeplechase, BHSU school record holder, Evie Boyd, concluded her season with a time of 10:43.59 for a 17th place finish in the field of 22 athletes at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
- In heat one, which featured a 1-2-3 finish by RMAC runners and five of the seven total runners from the league in the event, Boyd finished tenth out of the 11 athletes in the race.
- The finish marked her second sub-10:45 time of the season, and second consecutive to end the year, in the event.
- Boyd is one of just four athletes in school history to record sub-10:45 times in the 3,000m steeplechase.
