GOLDEN, Colo. - The Black Hills State University women's soccer team withstood their toughest test of the season thus far on Friday night at the Stermole Soccer Stadium, battling to a 0-0 draw with (RV) Colorado School of Mines. The Yellow Jackets, led by Rian Barthel in goal, captured their fourth shutout of the 2026 campaign and held the Orediggers scoreless at home for just the second time since the start of the 2024 season. With the draw BHSU continued to keep their undefeated season alive, pushing the unbeaten streak to eight games following the battle of top-10 teams regionally.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Colorado School of Mines jumped out to a quick offensive attack with an 8-2 advantage in shot attempts in the first 38 minutes of action, including one shot on target where Rian Barthel needed to make a save in the opening half. Barthel's first save came on the second of three first half corner kicks for the Orediggers as she snagged a shot attempt from Caelan DeBolt out of the air in the 29th minute.
- Black Hills State tallied a pair of late first half shot attempts as Ivy Agee notched two shot attempts high and wide in the 39th and 45th minutes as the teams entered the break with a 0-0 tie.
- The Yellow Jackets began to apply their own offensive pressure early in the second half as Ally Boysen recorded the first shot on target of the match for the Green & Gold with a slow rolling attempt towards the middle of the net that was picked up by Keira Garcia in the 48th minute. Then in the 57th minute Sydney Stephan tried to work her way around the Mines' defense and back into the box from the left side of the field and placed a shot on frame towards the nearside post which was saved.
- The biggest defensive play of the match for BHSU occurred in the 63rd minute when Natalie Rouse headed a shot towards the left side of the net and Mirabel Shellabarger was there to head away and clear the ball to keep the match scoreless. Then just a minute later in the 64th minute, Barthel made her fourth and final save of the match as she dove and corralled a shot towards the center of the net from Lindsay Jeans.
- Agee provided another potential scoring threat for the Yellow Jackets in the 71st minute as she made a cut back into the middle of the field against the Oredigger defense for a shot attempt from 25 yards out as her shot ricocheted off the top woodwork. It was the first of three shot attempts from BHSU in a four-minute span, which concluded with the final shot on target from Stephan as she fired a strike from 40-yards out that took one bounce and into the hands of Garcia in the 75th minute.
- The match concluded with Colorado School of Mines holding an advantage in shots (17-10), shots on goal (5-3), and corner kicks (7-3).
