Haedyn Rhoades was named a graduate assistant for the Black Hills State volleyball team in January 2024 after an illustrious five-year playing career as a Yellow Jacket. She will work primarily with the Yellow Jacket defensive specialists and libero positions, while helping to coordinate the serve-receive and Yellow Jacket defense.Â
"This last fall (2023) while my collegiate volleyball career was coming to an end, I wasn't ready to step away from the volleyball program just yet. I have absolutely loved my time at Black Hills State and I have poured my heart and soul into the volleyball program over the last five years," commented Rhoades. "Coach Bree has come in and worked so hard to create a new culture for the volleyball program, but there is still so much work to be done. Coach Bree has been such an important person in my life not only as a coach, but now as a mentor. I am so excited to be able to help this team accomplish our goals in a new role as a coach."
In her BHSU playing career, Rhoades was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Freshman of the Year (2019), plus being a two-time All-RMAC Second Team honoree (2019, 2020) and a three-time All-RMAC Honorable Mention performer (2021, 2022, 2023). She also brought in multiple academic honors including being named to the RMAC All-Academic First Team in 2021 and 2022, plus named to the Academic Honor Roll twice (2020, 2023). In 2022, she also garnered College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors.Â
Rhoades graduated from BHSU in May 2023 with a degree in Business Administration with specializations in accounting and management, while also earning a minor in athletic coaching. While serving as a graduate assistant, she is working on her Master of Business Administration at BHSU.Â
