SPEARFISH, S.D. – Black Hills State University head men's basketball coach Jeff Trumbauer has announced the addition of Patrick Mendes to the 2015 recruiting class.
Mendes, a 6-3 guard from Stockholm, Sweden, averaged 23 points, seven rebounds and four assists over his prep campaign.
"We are very excited to finish this recruiting class with a player like Patrick," Trumbauer said. "He brings things that we needed on our roster for next season, in that he is athletics, long and crafty. He has good speed and the ability to get past defenders to create for himself and his teammates.
"His abilities to play multiple guard positions will give us more options and looks with our rotation. We believe Patrick has the potential to become a very good defender as well. Furthermore, he is a great young man who will excel both on and off the floor."
Mendes was part of a squad that won the Swedish Youth National Championship in 2013 where he was named the Finals MVP in 2014. He was named the Most Improved Player for the Solna Vikings in 2013.
Mendes completes the class of eight for the 2015-16 season which includes Jonas Anderson, Oskar Dieterich, Fraser Malcolm, Sam McCloud, Max Mueller, Tyler Oliver and Erlendur Stefansson.
