Spearfish, S.D. – The Black Hills State University men's basketball team knocked-off Dakota State 78-64 to advance the team's record to 20-5 overall, 9-2 in the Dakota Athletic Conference.
"Dakota State is a scary team right now," said head coach Bradd Schafer. "Our bench gave us a great lift. We were able to get some momentum going and started tightening down defensively."
Black Hills State fell behind early, trailing 2-14 with 16:24 to go in the first half. The Yellow Jackets then went on an offensive attack outscoring the Trojans 32-9 over the next 14 minutes. Black Hills State would not relinquish the lead in the game.
Tanner Adler led all scorers with 19 points off the bench. Will John Johnson tallied his 16th double-double of the season scoring 16 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. Junior Rob Johnson added 12 points off of the bench.
Black Hills State will face Mayville State as part of "Senior Day" on Saturday, February 12 at 6 p.m. MT at the Young Center in Spearfish.
