Chadron, Neb. – The Black Hills State University softball team lost two games to Chadron State on Wednesday in Chadron, Neb.
In the first game, the Yellow Jackets lost 10-2 in five innings. Black Hills State scored in the top of the first when Kelsie Chambers drove in Kyley Barela. Katie Wagner gave up five runs over the next three innings. Nikki Chacon entered the game in the fourth inning. Black Hills State scored one run in the top of the fifth on a Barela single to make the score 5-2 entering the bottom of the fifth inning. The Yellow Jackets would give up five runs, including two homeruns in the bottom of the inning, to give Chadron State the 10-2 victory.
The second game did not get any easier for Black Hills State. The Yellow Jackets posted three runs in the top of the first inning. Chadron State would answer with two runs in the bottom of the first and two more in the bottom of the second inning. Black Hills State tied the game in the top of the fourth inning on a sacrifice bunt by Karly Ackerman. The Yellow Jackets could not hold on though as Chadron State scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and seven runs in the sixth inning to secure the 13-4 victory for the Eagles.
Black Hills State will return home on Saturday, April 9 to face Minot State. The Yellow Jackets will play a doubleheader with the Beavers. Game times are scheduled for 1 p.m. MT and 3 p.m. MT.
