Denver, Colo. – The Black Hills State University volleyball team was defeated by No. 9 Metro State 3-0 on Monday night in Denver, Colo.
The Yellow Jackets struggled to stop the Roadrunners as Metro State won in three sets by scores of 25-15, 25-12, and 25-16. Black Hills State led early in the first set 12-8 before Metro State exploded scoring 17 of the next 20 points to win the set. The second set saw the Yellow Jackets fall behind early before cutting the lead to two at 8-6. The Roadrunners once again went on a scoring streak putting up 17 of the sets final 23 points. In the final set, following a kill by Amy O'Neill, the Yellow Jackets found themselves down 14-10. Black Hills State would manage only two more kills the rest of the match and would fall 25-16 in the final set.
Black Hills State was led offensively by Caitlin Templeton with seven kills. Kylee Lamb and O'Neill each added six kills for the Yellow Jackets. The trio combined for 19 of Black Hills State's 22 kills in the match.
The Yellow Jackets will play their fourth match in four days tomorrow against Regis in Denver, Colo. The match is slated to begin at 7 p.m. MT.
