Spearfish, S.D. – The Black Hills State volleyball team took one set from No. 24 Adams State, but lost in four sets on Thursday night.
The Grizzlies took the first set from the yellow Jackets 25-20. BHSU battled Adams St. in the second set, but lost 26-28.
The Yellow Jackets came out with a re-found intensity in the third set. The team had a attack percentage of .414 and won the set 25-21. BHSU fell in the fourth set 25-22.
"I am extremely proud of our defense tonight, our block was strong and disrupted Adams State's flow on offense," said head coach Sally Nichols. "We are continuing to improve each night on the court. I love our fight, but our focus has to be on Friday night's match."
The Yellow Jacket defense was led by Kylee Lamb who recorded five solo blocks and two assisted blocks. Holly Hamlin added four total blocks. Kelsey Olson recorded a team-high 11 digs.
The Yellow Jacket attack was led by Cailtin Templeton and Meghan Sipe. Templeton had a team-high 14 kills and Sipe recorded 12 kills, two assists, two service aces, and eight digs.
The Grizzlies were led by Lindsay Stindt and Dominique Davis who each had 14 kills.
The Yellow Jackets will hit the court again tonight at 7 p.m. against Colorado State University – Pueblo (11-11, RMAC 2-9) and again tomorrow against Western State (1-18, RMAC 0-11) at 3 p.m.
