Box Score 2 Lakewood, Colo. – Black Hills State University softball fell to Colorado Christian in their first day of double headers by scores of 1-7 and 2-6 to fall to 6-33 overall.
The Yellow Jackets struggled getting any offense going in the first match-up of the day as they only scored one run on two hits. Black Hills State's lone run was scored by junior Alex Huntington in the third inning of the game. The Yellow Jackets' other hit was recorded by junior Rebecca Hugley who was playing second base.
Senior pitcher Katie Wagner was tagged with the loss, she pitched six innings and gave up seven runs (four earned) on 10 hits with two walks and two strike outs.
In the second game of the day the Cougars jumped out to a quick 1-5 lead after three innings and the Yellow Jackets were not able to overcome the deficit as they fell 2-6. Black Hills State was led offensively by junior Allie Alverson who finished the contest with one run on two hits in three at-bats.
Black Hills State junior pitcher Nikki Chacon was tagged with the loss as she pitched all six innings giving up six runs (four earned) on ten hits with two walks and three strike-outs.
The Yellow Jackets will return to the softball diamond tomorrow as they complete their season series against the Cougars, game times are scheduled for 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. MT.
