Box Score 2 Spearfish, S.D. – The Black Hills State University softball team finished their 2012 Rocky Mountain Athletics Conference (RMAC) campaign today as they fell to Regis (Colo.) by scores of 0-1 and 0-2 to finish the conference season 8-38 and 6-31 in conference play.
The Yellow Jackets recorded five hits in the first game, but were unable to score any runs. The game was tied at 0-0 until the top of the sixth inning when Rachel Illias scored the game's lone run for the Rangers.
Senior pitcher Katie Wagner pitched all seven innings giving up one run on five hits with no walks and two strike-outs.
In their second match-up of the day the Yellow Jackets gave up an early 0-2 lead to the Rangers and were unable to overcome that deficit. Black Hills State recorded four hits, led by freshman Nia Shumpert who recorded one hit in three at-bats. Defensively Shumpert recorded a team high five out-outs.
Wagner pitched her second complete game of the day giving up two runs (one earned) on six hits with three walks.
The Yellow Jackets will return to action Monday, April 23 as they finish their season against former Dakota Athletic Conference foe Minot State, first pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. with the second game following at 4 p.m. MT.
