Colorado Springs, Colo. – The Black Hills State University softball team travelled to Colorado Springs for a pair of double-headers against RMAC opponent University of Colorado-Colorado Springs. The Yellow Jackets fell to the Mountain Lions in the first day of double headers by scores of 2-10 in the first game (6 innings) and 9-11 in their second match-up of the day.

The Yellow Jackets recorded two runs on four hits in their first match-up of the day led by sophomore Kelsie Chambers who was playing shortstop, Chambers hit a solo homerun and finished the contest with one hit and one run in three at-bats with one RBI.

Black Hills State junior Nikki Chacon was on the mound and pitched all five innings for the Yellow Jackets giving up 10 runs on 12 hits while recording four walks and two strike-outs.

In the second match-up of the day the Yellow Jackets were able to find some offense as they recorded eight hits and scored nine runs. Seven different batters for Black Hills State were able to cross home plate led by sophomore Lenaya Vigil who recorded one hit and two runs in two at-bats. Chambers also had another solid game at the plate, she was able to record two runs and one RBI in four at bats. The sophomore duo each finished the game with a homerun.

Senior pitcher Katie Wagner was tagged with the loss; she pitched all six innings giving up 11 runs on 15 hits with one walk and six strike-outs.

The Yellow Jackets will return to action Saturday, April 7 and they complete their season series against the Mountain Lions in Colorado Springs, Colo., game times are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. MT.
