Spearfish, S.D. – The Black Hills State volleyball team fell twice to tough RMAC opponents last weekend, including No. 23 Colorado School of Mines and Colorado Christian.
In Friday's contest against Colorado School of Mines, the Yellow Jackets lost in straight-sets (25-14, 25-20, 25-13).
The Yellow Jackets' offense was led by Caitlin Templeton who had 12 kills on just 22 attempts. Amy O'Neill added seven kills and two blocks. Meghan Sipe recorded eight digs and two blocks.
Kylee Lamb and Holly Hamlin led the defense with three block assists each. Kelsey Olson had a team-high 16 digs. Darbi Yost led the Yellow Jackets with 16 assists.
On Saturday, the Yellow Jackets fell to Colorado Christian in four hard fought games (25-23, 23-25, 25-20, 25-12).
Meghan Sipe had a standout performance with eight kills, two blocks, a team-high 15 digs and a game-high five service aces. Templeton led the Yellow Jackets in kills with 10 and O'Neill added seven.
Kylee Lamb was a force at the net with six block assists and one block solo. Templeton helped the defense with five block assists.
BHSU begins a long road stint starting tomorrow (Oct. 2) at South Dakota School of Mines at 7 p.m. The Yellow Jackets will then travel for nearly a week to play RMAC opponents in Colorado (Fort Lewis, Colorado Mesa) and New Mexico (N.M. Highlands, Western N.M) until returning home for a contest against Adams State on Oct. 18.
