Box Score SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Black Hills State University women's soccer team fell 7-0 Friday afternoon against the Regis Rangers.
The Rangers came out strong scoring a quick goal in the second minute of the game. Tori Rinsem got a through ball from Rikki Fix to squeeze it past Therese Wilhelmi to the middle of the net to take a 1-0 lead over the Yellow Jackets. Black Hills State was not able to gain momentum as the Rangers scored two more goals to take a 3-0 lead at the half.
In the second half, Raven Johnson went in as goalkeeper for the Yellow Jackets to give Wilhemi a break. The Yellow Jackets were unable to respond to the Rangers as they scored four more goals in the second half to win it 7-0.
Katie Nielson registered two shots on goal with both of them finding the target along withEmily Keller tallying a shot on goal and connecting with the frame.
Therese Wilhelmi and Raven Johnson split the time in net. Wilhelmi registered seven saves while Johnson had four.
The Yellow Jackets fall to 1-11 on the season and 0-7 in conference action while the Rangers improve to 5-6-2 overall and 5-3-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
Black Hills State plays its final home game of the inaugural season on Sunday against MSU Denver with kickoff at 1 p.m.
