VB: Yellow Jackets Travel to Rival South Dakota Mines

SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Black Hills State University volleyball team travels to Rapid City, South Dakota on Tuesday to take on rival and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opponent South Dakota Mines for the second time this season. First serve is set for 7 p.m.

The Hardrockers enter 0-16 in RMAC action and 1-26 overall on the season. Allie Boggs leads the offense with 362 assists while Anna Breidt works alongside Boggs with 180 kills. Caryn Hazard is right behind Breidt with 174 kills. Elizabeth Jensen is an offensive threat as she has smacked down 20 service aces for the Hardrockers.

On defense, Allie Brown leads with 220 digs. Emily Newton works alongside Brown with 50 blocks while Breidt is a double threat as she is right behind Newton with 47 blocks. The Hardrockers are currently in the last place slot for conference.

The Yellow Jackets head into Rapid City with a 5-11 RMAC record and 7-17 on the season. Brynn Eckhardt commands the offense with 634 assists. Eckhardt registered her eighth triple-double on the season over the past weekend. She is a triple-threat on offense and defense. Alongside Eckhardt, Ellise Lech has smacked down 186 kills with a 2.02 per set average while Eckhardt is right behind with 170 kills.

Lacy Stevens, commander of the defense, has registered 516 digs with a 5.38 per set average. Eckhardt has assisted as well with 286 digs and a 2.98 per set average. Cheyenne Palu and Fehrin Ward work alongside Stevens with blocking. Palu leads the conference with 143 blocks and a 1.49 per set average. She ranks third nationally for blocks as well. Ward is right behind with 120 blocks and a 1.28 per set average.

Following Tuesday's match, the Green and Gold return home to the Young Center to play its final match against RMAC opponent University of Colorado Colorado Springs. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
