Box Score MINOT, N.D. – Black Hills State University fell in its inaugural match Thursday afternoon against Minot State 4-0.
Minot, of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, came out to take an early 1-0 lead in the first three minutes when Chloe Melton went on a breakaway for the goal. The Yellow Jackets were unable to string the ball together to make a strong offensive attack in the first half.
The Yellow Jackets heated up in the second half. Katie Nielson and Rose Miller came out on fire both recording a shot with Nielson's landing on goal forcing the MSU goalkeeper into the save.
Goalkeeper Therese Wilhelmi started in the net for the Yellow Jackets first match and recorded 10 saves.
The Yellow Jackets start the season off at a 0-1-0 record and Minot goes to 1-0-0.
The Yellow Jackets move on to play Minnesota State University-Moorhead on Saturday at noon.
