PUEBLO, Colo. – The Black Hills State University volleyball team fell in three sets to Colorado State University-Pueblo, 3-0.
The Thunderwolves took all three sets: 25-15, 25-14, and 25-18.
The Yellow Jackets started off keeping it close in each set but were not able to finish it out. In the third set, BHSU was down by eight points, 21-12 and rallied back scoring a quick three points, two kills by Sierra Stugelmeyer and a kill by Danielle Torpey to make the score 22-16. Ellise Lech scored another two points off of kills but it was not enough to close the gap, losing set three 25-18.
Brynn Eckhardt led the way on offense recording 23 assists. Alongside Eckhardt was Danielle Torpey, Fehrin Ward and Sierra Stugelmeyer, who all recorded six kills for the Yellow Jackets.
Both Lacy Stevens and Eckhardt helped each other out on defense recording nine digs each. Cheyenne Palu and Sierra Stugelmeyer assisted alongside Stevens each recording two blocks.
The Yellow Jackets fall to 2-8 on the season and 0-3 in the conference while the Thunderwolves improve to 4-8 on the season and 2-1 in conference play.
Black Hills State travels down to Las Vegas, N.M. to play New Mexico Highlands with first serve at 6 p.m.
