Box Score MITCHELL, S.D. – The Black Hills State University soccer team defeated Dakota Wesleyan 2-0 on Wednesday night.
In the second half, the Yellow Jackets
Rose Miller scored the go-ahead goal in the 48
th minute with an assist from
Emma Jurewicz. To ensure the win, Miller slipped a pass to Jurewicz for her to place the ball in the net to make it 2-0 in the 56
th minute of action. Dakota Wesleyan was unable to respond as the Yellow Jackets earned their first win of the season.
Aside from the efforts of Miller and Jurewicz,
Jessica Ryan attempted three shots with one landing on frame while
Danielle Heerts placed two shots on goal from her two attempts.
Katie Nielson, the leading scorer for the Yellow Jackets, tallied two shots with one on frame while
Molly Lauseng tallied one shot with one landing on frame.
Raven Johnson and
Ranni Hopkins split the time in goal. Johnson tallied one save for the Green and Gold while Hopkins, in her first set of action, registered five saves and got the win.
The Yellow Jackets outshot the Tigers 14 to eight.
Black Hills State improves to 1-3 on the season while Dakota Wesleyan slips to 0-4.
The Green and Gold return home for a five-game series at Ronnie Theisz starting this weekend hosting UCCS and Western State on Friday and Sunday. Kick off both days is scheduled for 1 p.m.
