DENVER, Colo. – The Black Hills State University women's soccer team fell to No. 17 Regis, 8-0, on Friday afternoon.
The nationally ranked Rangers (10-1-2, 8-0-1 RMAC) started off the game on the front foot, taking six shots and four corners in the first seven minutes. In the eighth minute, the home team got on the board on a header goal by Cate Parchinski. Regis added first half goals in the 15th, 16th, 35th, and 44th minutes.
The second half was more of a defensive battle. Although Regis outshot the Yellow Jackets (0-12, 0-7 RMAC), 10-0, in the first 35 minutes of the half, the BHSU backline kept the Rangers out of the net until the 81st minute, when Wesley Flood scored to put RU up, 6-0. RU scored in the 82nd and 89th minute to extend the lead to 8-0.
Black Hills State was outshot by RU, 43-0, and the Rangers also took more corner kicks (17-0). GoalkeeperÂ
Raven Johnson (0-8) played the first half in goal. She allowed five goals, while making nine saves.
Therese Wilhelmi played the first 29 minutes of the second half, holding the Rangers scoreless and making five saves.
Zoe Baldwin played the final 16 minutes, allowing three goals and making three saves. Parchinski, Rikki Fix (2), Bethany Hohnstein, Annika Hills, Sofia Garcia, Flood, and Tori Rinsem scored for Regis. Â
The Yellow Jackets next travel to MSU-Denver on Sunday, October 15. The match is scheduled to kick off at noon.
