Soccer set to wrap up season, host Griffins and Mavericks

SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Black Hills State University women's soccer team hosts a pair of Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matches to wrap up the 2017 season this weekend. The Yellow Jackets welcome Westminster on Thursday, October 26, before playing Colorado Mesa on Saturday, October 28. Thursday's match is scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m., and Saturday's game time is set for 11 a.m.

During Thursday's match, the BHSU Student Athlete Advisory Committee will be selling Make-A-Wish Stars for one dollar each, to raise money for the organization.

Westminster College (7-8-1, 4-6-1 RMAC) most recently fell to CSU-Pueblo, 2-1, after defeating New Mexico Highlands, 2-1, in overtime. The Griffins are scoring 1.31 goals per game, led by Ellie Echevario, who has three goals. Seven different players have scored twice, and three players have tallied two assists, including Echevario. Goalkeeper Breanna Empey (3-7) has allowed 21 goals in 961 minutes. She has a 1.97 GAA, and has made 41 saves. Hillary Weixler (3-1-1) has also spent time in goal, making 30 saves and allowing eight goals in 517 minutes. She has a 1.39 goals against average. Westminster is currently tied with Colorado Mesa for sixth place in the RMAC.

Colorado Mesa University (7-8-1, 4-6-1 RMAC) most recently defeated New Mexico Highlands, 7-1, after falling, 1-0, to CSU-Pueblo. Alexis Allard leads the Mavericks with five goals, while Zoe Peterson has four. Mackenzie King has four assists to lead the squad. Emily Signorio (3-5) has a 1.25 goals against average, allowing 10 goals. She has made 38 saves in 720 minutes. Jessica Jolley (4-1-1) has also spent time in goal, recording a 0.95 GAA, with 22 saves and seven goals allowed in 660 minutes. Colorado Mesa is currently tied with Westminster for sixth place in the RMAC.

Black Hills State University (1-14, 1-9 RMAC) is coming off its first win of the season, a 3-2 double overtime victory over Colorado Christian. The Yellow Jackets fell, 4-1, to nationally ranked Colorado School of Mines over the weekend as well. Katie Nielsen leads the squad with three goals scored, while Jayden Judy has two goals. Alexandria Lisenbe, Caitlin Kelly, and Therese Wilhelmi each have an assist this year. Raven Johnson (1-8) has played 754 minutes in goal, allowing 37 goals and making 67 saves with a 4.42 goals against average. Wilhelmi (0-3) also spends time in goal, tallying 35 saves in 434 minutes. She has allowed 22 goals with a 4.56 GAA.
