WSOC: Nielson's Goal Not Enough, as BHSU Falls, 4-1, to Skyhawks

SPEARFISH, S.D. – Katie Nielson's goal was not enough, as the Black Hills State University women's soccer team fell, 4-1, on Friday afternoon to Fort Lewis College.

The Yellow Jackets fall to 0-10-0 on the season, and 0-5 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play, while the Skyhawks improve to 3-6-1 overall, and 3-4 in conference action.
In the first half, Fort Lewis jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead, with Meredith Curran scoring her second goal of the season in the seventh minute.

In the 18th minute, Emma Patron hit a shot in the center of the net, after dribbling across the box to get past the defenders to go up 2-0. After a Yellow Jacket foul, Alicia Sanchez blasted a free kick into the back right corner of the net to increase the Skyhawk lead to 3-0 in the 31st minute.

In the final four minutes of the half, Therese Wilhelmi found Katie Nielson about four yards out, who placed a shot in the back left corner of the net to close in on the Skyhawk lead, 3-1.

Halfway through the second half, Patron scored her second goal of the day from 25 yards out to the deep left corner to give the Skyhawks a 4-1 lead and the win.
