SPEARFISH, S.D. – For the second consecutive game, the Black Hills State University women's soccer team scored first, but ultimately fell to the University of Mary, 3-1, on Sunday afternoon.
Katie Nielson scored for the Yellow Jackets (0-5), her first of the season.
Morgan Wood also recorded a shot in the game.
The first 20 minutes were controlled by Mary (3-0), with the Marauders outshooting BHSU, 9-1. However, in the 25th minute, Nielson got the Yellow Jackets on the board. Her goal gave Black Hills State a lead for the second consecutive game.
However, Mary tied the game in the 30th minute, and just before half, took a 2-1 lead. The Marauders added an insurance goal in the 63rd minute. The Yellow Jackets were unable to get another shot on goal, and ultimately fell.

Zoe Baldwin (0-2) played the first half for the Yellow Jackets, allowing two goals in 45 minutes, and making four saves.
Raven Johnson played the second half, allowing one goal and recording five saves. Caylin Cathey, Emma Davies, and Megan Lowery scored the goals for Mary.
The Yellow Jackets open RMAC play next weekend. BHSU will go on the road to play Western State on Friday, September 15, at 3 p.m.
