SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Black Hills State University triathlon team heads to Lakewood, Colorado, this weekend to participate in the Littlefoot Triathlon. The sprint triathlon will consist of a 750-meter swim, a 12-mile bike, and a 5K run.

Mathilde Bernard will look to finish first for the second consecutive race. The freshman, competing in her first collegiate race, took first place to lead the Yellow Jackets in the Southern Hills Triathlon on September 2. She will be looking to improve on her time, and win again.

Also competing in the triathlon will be Katie Christy, Taylor Ihmels, Johanna Mitchell, Sage Riss, Cayley Schmitt, and Emma Stone. Christy, Ihmels, and Riss have all competed at the Littlefoot Triathlon before, so their knowledge of the course will prove vital for the team, and serve as a competitive advantage for the trio. They will be able to compare their times from the course in years past.

Mitchell will be competing in her first ever triathlon this weekend, while Stone, who competed for the first time at the Southern Hills Triathlon, will look to improve her time.
