SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Black Hills State University women's soccer team dropped a match to the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs, 7-0, on Sunday afternoon.
The Yellow Jacket (0-7, 0-2 RMAC) defense held firm for the first 44 minutes, allowing 11 shots, but keeping the score 0-0. However, in the 44th minute, the Mountain Lions (3-2, 1-0 RMAC)) scored when Savannah Boarman headed in a corner kick to give the home team a 1-0 lead. A minute later, just before the half, UCCS added a goal off a free kick by Anna Gregg.
UCCS took control of the game in the second half, scoring in the 52nd, 60th, 67th, 81st, and 87th minutes.
Black Hills State was outshot by UCCS, 27-0, and the Mountain Lions also took more corner kicks (11-0). GoalkeeperÂ
Raven Johnson (0-3) played all 90 minutes in goal. She allowed seven goals, while making eight saves. Chanisse Hendrix (2), Kelsey Lanham (2), Gregg, Hanna Parado, and Boarman scored the goals for UCCS.
The Yellow Jackets stay on the road, traveling to New Mexico Highlands on Friday, September 22, and CSU-Pueblo on Sunday, September 24. Friday's match is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., while Sunday will kick off at noon.
