ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Black Hills State University women's soccer team fell on Saturday afternoon to Northern State University, 4-0.
The Wolves came out hot in the first half taking a quick 1-0 lead over the Yellow Jackets. Stephany Estrada made a quick pass over to Alison Byrd to put it right in over the goalkeeper's head in the fourth minute of the game.
From there, NSU kept up the momentum, taking a 2-0 lead in the 18
th minute of the game. Byrd made a quick cross pass over to Shianne Rosselli, who placed it in the top right corner of the net. The Yellow Jackets were unable to find the momentum as they fell 4-0.
The time was split in net as
Zoe Baldwin made her first collegiate start, tallying four saves, while
Raven Johnson relieved Baldwin in the second and registered five saves.
Rose Miller led the team, landing two shots on goal while
Caitlin Kelly and
Therese Wilhelmi each had one. The team tallied 10 shots with four landing on goal.
Black Hills State falls to 0-2-0 on the season, while NSU improves to 1-0-0.
The Yellow Jackets return to action on Monday, September 4 to play Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m.
