SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Black Hills State University women's soccer team is set to take on a pair of RMAC teams this weekend on the road. The Yellow Jackets play New Mexico Highlands on Friday, September 22, at 11 a.m., before traveling to Colorado State-Pueblo on Sunday, September 24, with kickoff scheduled for noon.
New Mexico Highlands (0-4-2, 0-1-1 RMAC), located in Las Vegas, New Mexico, opened conference play with a 0-0 draw against Adams State. They then fell, 1-0, to Fort Lewis. The Cowgirls are scoring 0.67 goals per game this season, led by Breanna Fatten, who has two goals. Graciela Lopez and Zinnia Hannig have each tallied one goal each, while Abigail Chavez has one assist. Time in goal has been split between Katherine Scott, Karina Vega, and Makenna Luster. Scott has allowed one goal, while making 21 saves in 200 minutes, and is third in the RMAC is GAA (0.45), while leading the league in save percentage (.955). Vega has made 13 saves, while allowing three goals in 142 minutes. Luster has played 225 minutes, allowing 12 goals and making 15 saves.
Colorado State University-Pueblo (3-3, 2-0 RMAC) opened Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play with a pair of wins over Fort Lewis (1-0) and Adams State (2-1). The victory over FLC was in double overtime, the team's second overtime game of the young season. The Thunderwolves are led by Mackenzie Bean, who has two goals. Callie Larson, Michelle Moure and Rianna Lockhart have each scored one goal. Goalkeeper Rylie Martin has played all 558 minutes for CSU-Pueblo, making 19 saves and allowing four goals. She has a 0.64 goals against average with two shutouts on the year. The Thunderwolves swept the RMAC weekly awards following the first week of play. Bean won Offensive Player of the Week, Danelle Dondelinger was named Defensive Player of the Week, and Martin was the Goalkeeper of the Week. Bean leads the RMAC is total shots (20) and is second in shots per game (3.33).
Black Hills State University (0-7, 0-2 RMAC) opened conference play with a pair of 7-0 losses at Western State and UCCS.
Katie Nielson and
Jayden Judy have each tallied a goal for the Yellow Jackets, while
Caitlin Kelly has an assist. Goalkeeping duties have been split between
Raven Johnson (0-2),
Therese Wilhelmi (0-3), and
Zoe Baldwin (0-1). Johnson has made 29 saves, which is second in the league, and allowed 10 goals in 224 minutes. Wilhelmi has recorded 23 saves in 270 minutes, while allowing 20 goals. Baldwin has played 135 minutes, allowing six goals, and making 10 saves.
