BILLINGS, Mont. –
Jayden Judy's first collegiate goal was not enough, as the Black Hills State University women's soccer team fell in day one of the Rimrock Classic against Montana State University Billings on Friday by a score of 4-1.
Black Hills State falls to 0-4 on the season, while MSU Billings improves to 1-2.
In the first half, the Yellow Jackets came out hot, scoring the first goal within seven minutes of the contest starting.
Caitlin Kelly passed the ball from inside the box back to
Jayden Judy, who scored the goal right over the goalkeeper's head from the top of the box, to take a 1-0 lead.
In the 13
th minute, Alycia Wright answered back, dribbling the ball down the field and launching it from the top of the left wing position to tie the game 1-1.
After the intermission, MSUB took a 2-1 lead over the Green and Gold in the 53
rd minute. Courteney Shovlin made a quick pass over to Wright at the top of the box. Wright took a shot from six yards out, in a crowded box, to score and give the Yellowjackets the go-ahead goal.
From there, MSUB went on to score two more goals to end the game 4-1.
Black Hills State tallied seven shots, with five of them landing on goal.
Judy scored her first collegiate goal for the Green and Gold.
Katie Nielson,
Rose Miller, and
Mikayla Hernandez each recorded two shots for BHSU. Nielson had two land on target, while Miller and Hernandez each had one land on goal. Kelly assisted the offense, tallying one assist.
Therese Wilhelmi and
Raven Johnson split the time in net. Wilhelmi registered five saves in the first half, while Johnson, who took the loss, had two.
The Green and Gold play again on Sunday in the final day of the Rimrock Classic against the University of Mary. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m.
