SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Black Hills State University women's soccer team is set for their final road trip of 2018 this weekend. The Yellow Jackets travel to No. 5 ranked Colorado School of Mines on October 19, before playing at Colorado Christian University on October 21. Friday's game time is set for 6:30 p.m., while Saturday is set to kick off at 1 p.m.
Scouting the Orediggers (13-1-1, 10-0 RMAC)
Colorado School of Mines is located in Golden, Colorado, and are currently in first place in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference standings, having yet to lose a league game. The Orediggers are ranked No. 5 in the national rankings, after defeating then No. 16 University of Colorado Colorado Springs, 2-1, in overtime, and MSU Denver, 2-1, last weekend. Mines' lone loss on the year came to then No. 15 ranked Western Washington (2-1). They have scored 26 goals on the year, while allowing just six in 15 games. The six goals allowed is best in the RMAC.
Jennifer Kendall leads the Orediggers with six goals and four assists, while Nicole LaTourette has tallied four goals. Three players have three goals for the squad, while in total, 10 different players have scored. Dominique Rivera is tied with Kendall with four assists. Shannon Mooney (13-1-1) has a 0.40 goals against average, allowing six goals in 1,348 minutes. She has made 38 saves with seven shutouts this season.
Scouting the Cougars (5-7-2, 4-6 RMAC)
Colorado Christian University, located in Lakewood, Colorado, most recently fell to UCCS, 2-0, and MSU Denver, 1-0, in double overtime. The Cougars are currently in eighth place in RMAC standings. They score 1.14 goals per game, while allowing 1.21 goals per game.
Amanda Lopez leads CCU with six goals, and also has three assists, for 15 total points. Stephanie Muchow has three goals and an assist for the Cougars. Renee De La Torre leads the squad with four assists, while also recording a goal. Ireland VanDyke has allowed 17 goals in 1,315 minutes, recording two shutouts. She has made 67 saves in net, with a .798 save percentage.
Scouting the Yellow Jackets (0-13-1, 0-8-1 RMAC)
Black Hills State University most recently fell to Regis, 6-0. The Yellow Jackets are scoring 0.93 goals per game, while allowing 3.86 goals per game.
Mikayla Hernandez and Katie Nielson each have three goals and an assist to lead the Yellow Jackets with seven points. Rachel Erickson has scored twice, while Rose Miller, Ella Goodman, Morgan Smith, Alexandria Lisenbe, and Stephanie Stagner have each tallied a goal for BHSU this season. Miller leads the Yellow Jackets with three assists. Teagen Hartley (0-4-1) has allowed 20 goals in 543 minutes. She has a .740 save percentage, while making 57 saves (sixth in the RMAC) in net. The freshman's 8.14 saves per game is ranked number one in the conference. Zoe Baldwin (0-7) has played 532 minutes, allowing 26 goals and making 45 saves. Â Â
