SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Black Hills State University rodeo teams head to Sisseston, S.D., to compete at the rescheduled Sisseton Wahpeton College Rodeo on November 1-2. The competition was postponed from earlier in the year due to weather.
The Yellow Jacket women enter the final rodeo of the fall season leading the Great Plains Region with 2,880 points, more than 1,500 points in front of South Dakota State University, who sit in second. BHSU is also first in the national standings, leading second place Montana State University by 300 points.
In the women's all-around, Alyssa Lockhart enters this weekend in first in the nation and in the region with 1,140 points. Yellow Jackets hold the top three spots in the standings in the Great Plains Region. KeAnna Ward (845) and Carlee Johnston (760) are second and third, respectively. Lockhart is fourth in the country, and Johnston stands in sixth.
Lockhart currently sits in first in barrel racing with 550 points, which is good for fourth in the country. Carlee Johnston is in fourth in the region in the event with 240 points, while Tayle Brink is fifth with 165 points, and Taylor Hanson is sixth with 160 points.
Members of the Green and Gold hold the top four spots in breakaway roping, with Lockhart leading the way with 370 points. Cora Borman is second with 300 points, Courtney Peters is third with 260 points, and KeAnna Ward is fourth with 220 points. Lockhart's point total is good for fifth in the national rankings.
In goat tying, Ward sits in the top spot in the region, and the nation, with 625 points. Carlee Johnston is third in the Great Plains with 345 points, while Emilee Pauley is fourth with 340 points, Brink is fifth with 285 points, and Lockhart is sixth with 220 points.
The Yellow Jacket men enter this week's rodeo in fourth place in the Great Plains Region with 1,405 points.
In tie down roping, Carson Johnston leads the region with 355 points. Chandler Comfort is ninth in event with 155 points.
As team roping header, Collin Palmer and Dalton Magilke are tied for 11th with 110 points. As heeler, Comfort is in third with 215 points.
