Yellow Jackets to Close Fall Slate at Triton Stampede

SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Black Hills State University men's and women's rodeo team has reached the conclusion of their fall season as they will compete in their sixth and final rodeo of the fall season at the Triton Stampede, hosted by Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, Iowa. The Yellow Jacket women's team enters the weekend at No. 7 in the nation, and sees the No. 1 barrel racer in the country, Jayda Reinert go for her fifth win of the season.

BLACK HILLS STATE MEN'S RODEO STORYLINES
  • The Black Hills State men's rodeo team enters their sixth and final rodeo of the fall ranked No. 9 in the Great Plains Region with 260.0 points this year.
  • Luke Mavity moves up to a tie for No. 10 in the region in tie down roping, totaling 130.0 points on the year. He has recorded a pair of fifth place finishes in the event at the Falcon Frontier Days Rodeo (25.7) and the Mystic Stampede (22.2).
  • Also, in tie down roping, Mickey Strawn enters the final rodeo of the fall ranked No. 15 in the region with 80.0 points. He has one top-5 finish on the season, a third place finish at the Mid-Plains Community College Stampede Rodeo #2 (22.1)
  • Glen Lammers is in his 18th season as the head coach of the Yellow Jacket men's and women's rodeo program.
#7 BLACK HILLS STATE WOMEN'S RODEO STORYLINES
  • The Black Hills State University women's rodeo team enters their sixth and final rodeo of the fall ranked No. 7 in the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) rankings and is No. 1 in the Great Plains Region with 1,056.0 points this year.
  • The Yellow Jackets have finished top-3 as a team in four different rodeos this year, finishing second at the Falcon Frontier Days Rodeo, the Mid-Plains Community College Stampede Rodeo #1, and the Mystic Stampede, while also turning in a third place finish at the Blue Hawk Stampede.
  • The Green & Gold have once again dominated the barrel racing scene in the Great Plains Region, with five of the top-15 cowgirls in the region.
  • The current No. 1 barrel racer in the nation and Great Plains Region, Jayda Reinert has totaled 625.0 points through five rodeos. She has claimed four barrel racing titles this season already, winning the Falcon Frontier Days Rodeo (32.11), Mid-Plains Community College Stampede Rodeo #1 (18.05 – 1 Go), Blue Hawk Stampede (35.07), and the Mystic Stampede (34.93)
  • Sierra Steele currently ranks No. 3 in the Great Plains Region in barrel racing, totaling 233.0 points. She has posted a pair of top-5 finishes this year with a second place finish at the Mid-Plains Community College Stampede Rodeo #2 (36.28) and a fourth place finish at the Mid-Plains Community College Stampede Rodeo #1 (18.32 – 1 Go)
  • Others in the top-15 within the Great Plains Region in barrel racing include Kiera Mavity who is seventh with 150.0 points, Kamry Davis who is 11th with 125.0 points, and Adeline Norstegaard who is 13th with 119.0 points. Mavity has notched three top-10's this year, posting a third place tie at the Blue Hawk Stampede (35.47) and a ninth place finish at the Mid-Plains Community College Stampede Rodeo #1 (18.50 – 1 Go) and Mystic Stampede (40.27). Davis has a pair of top-10 finishes with a tie for second place at the Mystic Stampede (35.14) and an eighth place finish at the Mid-Plains Community College Stampede Rodeo #2 (36.97). Norstegaard has notched a pair of top-6 finishes this year, finishing fifth at the Mid-Plains Community College Stampede Rodeo #1 (18.33 – 1 Go) and sixth place at the Blue Hawk Stampede (40.20).
  • Emma Ohm enters the final rodeo of the fall ranked No. 12 in the nation and No. 4 in the region in breakaway roping, having totaled 200.0 points thus far on the year. She has posted a fourth place finish at the Mystic Stampede (6.5), sixth place finish at the Mid-Plains Community College Stampede Rodeo #1 (3.1 – 1 Go), and the Mid-Plains Community College Stampede Rodeo #2 (8.0).
  • After winning her first event title of her collegiate career, including both the long go and the short go, at the Mystic Stampede (5.1), Molly Gilbert jumps into the national rankings and is No. 14 in the country and No. 5 in the region with 180.0 points.
  • Haley Husted and Mavity lead the way for the Yellow Jackets in goat tying, as they are two of four ranked within the top-15 of the Great Plains Region. Husted is No. 6 in the region with 206.0 points, as she has earned a third place finish at the Mid-Plains Community College Stampede Rodeo #1 (7.4 – 1 Go) and was sixth place at both the Falcon Frontier Days Rodeo (15.5) and the Mystic Stampede (15.0). Mavity is eighth in the region with 170.0 points and has one the event title this year, claiming first place at the Blue Hawk Stampede (12.9) and added a seventh place finish at the Mid-Plains Community College Stampede Rodeo #2 (16.0).
  • Raylee Fagerhaug also sits top-10 in the Great Plains Region in goat tying, tallying 135.0 points to rank tenth. She has recorded a pair of top-5 finishes this year with a fourth place finish at the Blue Hawk Stampede (14.5) and a fifth place finish at the Mid-Plains Community College Stampede Rodeo #2 (15.5).
  • Rounding out the group of four in goat tying is Linley Schmitz who is No. 14 in the Great Plains Region with 80.0 points. She began the year with a fifth place finish at the Falcon Frontier Days Rodeo (15.1).
  • Glen Lammers is in his 18th season as the head coach of the Yellow Jacket men's and women's rodeo program.
