Husted Records Ninth Place Goat Tying Finish at CNFR

CASPER, Wyo. - The 2026 College National Finals Rodeo (NCFR) came to a close on Saturday night with the Black Hills State University women's rodeo team represented by Haley Husted in the championship short go of the goat tying. With consistent times all week long, Husted closed out her collegiate career with a top-10 finish at the national championships, completing a run for ninth place at the Ford Wyoming Center. The run completed a 23rd place finish as a team for the Yellow Jacket women's rodeo team as they collected 65 points during the week.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Haley Husted rounded out a busy week of action at the CNFR on Saturday night with an eighth place finish in the short go round with a time of 6.8 seconds. Her fourth and final run brought her overall time to 26.6 seconds on four go arounds for ninth place in the event.
NOTES
  • Husted became the first Yellow Jacket to qualify for the championship short-go since 2024 when both Austin Madison (steer wrestling) and Clayton Brackhause (team roping) each made the fourth and final round.
  • Husted became the highest finisher and the first Yellow Jacket to qualify for the championship short-go in goat tying since 2017 when Carlee Johnston reached the final round. Johnston finished third in the fourth go and tied for fourth overall in the event that year.
  • All four of Husted's runs were 6.8 seconds or better, the first athlete to do so in the event since Jamie Britton did it at the 2011 CNFR to finish sixth overall in goat tying.
