CHADRON, Neb. – Five players scored in double figures, as the Black Hills State University men's basketball team defeated Chadron State College, 89-60, on Friday evening.
Dez Stoudamire scored 20 points to lead the Yellow Jackets (15-10, 12-9 RMAC), while
Fraser Malcolm recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Patrick Mendes and
Wyatt Krogman tallied 12 points, while
Connor O'Hearn chipped in 10.
BHSU jumped out to a 7-0 lead, and never looked back. The Green and Gold led by 15 at the half, 49-34. Stoudamire entered halftime with 12 points, going 4-for-6 from the field, 3-for-5 from beyond the arc, and 1-for-1 from the line in the first 20 minutes.
The Eagles (3-24, 1-20 RMAC) never got closer than 13 points in the second half, as the Yellow Jackets kept their foot on the gas. Chadron State went 6:22 without a basket from the field, from 9:52 to 3:30, however, BHSU continued making baskets, leading by as many as 32, and ultimately winning by 29, 89-60.
BHSU shot 59.3 percent from the field (32-for-54), while CSC was 42.4 percent from the floor (25-for-59). The Yellow Jackets were 10-for-18 (55.6 percent) from beyond the arc, while the Eagles were 4-for-12 (33.3 percent) on three-pointers. BHSU was 15-for-16 (93.8 percent) from the free throw line, while Chadron State was 6-for-13 (46.2 percent). The Green and Gold were outrebounded, 33-29.
Jaisean Jackson led the Eagles with 13 points.
The Green and Gold wrap up the regular season on Saturday, February 24. The Yellow Jackets will take on Regis, with tipoff scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
