MBB: BHSU falls in regular season finale to Regis

DENVER, Colo. – The Black Hills State University men's basketball team fell to Regis, 83-71, on Saturday evening to wrap up the regular season.

Dez Stoudamire scored 15 points to lead the Yellow Jackets (15-11, 12-10 RMAC), while Makaleb McInnis recorded 13 points. Antonio Capley chipped in 10 points and six boards.  

The Rangers (23-5, 17-5 RMAC) jumped out to a 12-4 lead in the initial three minutes of the game. The Yellow Jackets responded by scoring five consecutive points, all by McInnis. However, Regis went on a 7-0 run to push the lead back out to 19-9. BHSU again tried to cut into the lead, and trailed by just one, 25-24, with 6:33 left in the half. The Rangers then used a 16-2 run to enter halftime with a 41-26 lead.

The Yellow Jackets outscored the Rangers, 45-42, in the second half, led by Stoudamire who scored 10 in 20 minutes, however, it was not enough, as Regis held on to win, 83-71, and clinch the second seed in the RMAC Tournament.

BHSU shot 50.9 percent from the field (28-for-55), while RU was 59.3 percent from the floor (32-for-54). The Yellow Jackets were 6-for-23 (26.1 percent) from beyond the arc, while the Rangers were 11-for-21 (52.4 percent) on three-pointers. BHSU was 9-for-11 (81.8 percent) from the free throw line, while Regis was 8-for-9 (88.9 percent).  The Green and Gold were outrebounded, 28-23.

Christian Little led the Rangers with 20 points, while four other players scored in double figures for the home team.
