SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Black Hills State University women's triathlon team is set for its only race of the spring season, when it travels to California to compete in the Half Moon Bay Triathlon on Sunday, April 22.
Three Yellow Jackets will be competing in the Olympic Distance, which involves a 1500-meter swim, 25-mile bike, and 10-kilometer run.
Mathilde Bernard and
Cayley Schmitt will be competing in the Olympic Distance for the first time ever, while
Katie Christy will compete with some prior experience.
Sage Riss,
Emma Stone, and
Johanna Mitchell will be competing at the Sprint Distance. The three Jackets will race 500 meters of swimming, 11 miles of biking, and 5 kilometers of running.
The competition is the final one for the Green and Gold for the season. The last time BHSU competed was at the Collegiate Championships, where the team was second in Division II, with Bernard placing fourth.
