PUEBLO, Colo. – The Black Hills State University women's soccer team fell to Colorado State University-Pueblo, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon.
The Thunderwolves (4-5-1, 3-2-1 RMAC) got on the board early, scoring in the fourth minute on a Justine Martinez goal. The home team stayed on the front foot, scoring again in the 41st minute, and the team increased its cushion to three goals less than two minutes later.
In the second half, the Yellow Jackets (2-8-1, 2-4-1 RMAC) got off the first shot, when Katie Nielson fired it wide. However, neither team was able to break through in the period, and the score would remain 3-0.
CSUP outshot BHSU, 20-2, in the match. Nielson had both of the shots for the Green and Gold, including one on target. Dz-Rae Jara (2-5-1) made seven saves in net while allowing three goals in 90 minutes.
Rylie Martin earned the victory in net for the Thunderwolves, while Martinez, Cara Siegel, and Summer Hatch scored for CSUP.
The Green and Gold will next be in action October 13 at New Mexico Highlands. The match is scheduled to kick off at 11 a.m.
