Spearfish, SD- Wrapping up their season, the Black Hills State University soccer team has a tough weekend on the road. On Friday, November 1
st, the Green and Gold will face number one in the nation University of Colorado- Colorado Springs at 4:30pm. Then, on Sunday November 3
rd at 11am, the Yellow Jackets take to the pitch one last time to take on Metro State, who are currently tied for fifth in RMAC play.
Scouting the Mountain Lions (15-0, 11-0 RMAC)
UCCS is undefeated and ranked first in the nation heading into this weekends play. Last time out, the Mountain Lions cruised to a 6-1 victory as they scored two first half goals and four second half goals against MSU Denver. UCCS leads the series over BHSU 3-0 having defeated the Yellow Jackets 11-4 in their last match up.
Scouting the Roadrunners (6-8-2, 5-4-2 RMAC)
Metro State returns home after a tough road series. Their last two matchups have been against #14 CO Mines and #1 UCCS were they lost 1-5 and 1-6. Arantxa Melendez (28) scored the loan goal for the Roadrunners last weekend. Metro leads the series over BHSU 4-0 having blanked the Yellow Jackets 6-0 in their last match up.
Scouting the Yellow Jackets (3-10-1, 3-6-1 RMAC)
Weather forced the last home game against CCU to be cancelled. They managed to get one game in against #14 CO mines where they fell 0-5.
Katie Nielson led the offensive with 2 shots while
Ella Goodman, Caitlin Kelly, and
Brianna Tudor all recorded a shot on goal. This weekend will wrap up the season for BHSU.
