SPEARFISH, S.D. - On Tuesday, October 8, at 7 p.m., in the Donald E Young Center, the Black Hills State University Volleyball team will battle it out with South Dakota School of Mines. Coming off a big win Saturday against UCCS, and a loss to nationally ranked Colorado School of Mines this past Friday, the Yellow Jackets are ready for some rivalry action back at home.

Scouting the Hardrockers (7-8, 3-3 RMAC)
The SDSMT volleyball team will make the short trip down the interstate Tuesday evening following a split weekend. The Hardrockers are coming off a huge upset win over the #23 Orediggers of Colorado School of Mines, in which they won, 3-2. In the match the Hardrockers lost the first two sets and came back to win the third closely, 27-25. They then went on and won the fourth and fifth sets to take the match.

The night before in Colorado Springs at UCCS, the Hardrockers suffered a loss in four sets to the Mountain Lions. Despite libero Anna Thomas' match high 13 digs, SDSMT was unable to overcome the Mountain Lion attack, which hit at 0.278 percent for the match. Dana Thomson leads the Hardrocker offense with a hitting percentage of 0.278 percent herself.

Scouting the Yellow Jackets (6-8, 4-2 RMAC)
After a tough loss to the Orediggers, the Yellow Jackets are coming fresh off a Saturday night victory over UCCS on the weekend. After a late push during the third set of the match, BHSU pushed on to win 27-25, taking a two-set lead in the match and would not look back. In the match,
Laurel Lech recorded her 10th double-double of the season, while
Sierra Ward and
Madee Hoopman both had kills in double digits.

Next Up
Following the rivalry matchup with the Hardrockers, the Yellow Jackets will host Metropolitan State Denver and Chadron State this weekend. Friday's match against the Roadrunners is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
