SPEARFISH, S.D. – The 5th Annual "Sheriff" 5k/3k Community Run will be held Saturday, September 21 in Spearfish City Park. The run is an event to honor the memory of BHSU student-athlete Gage McSpadden, originally from Rawlins, Wyoming.

Gage was a Special Education Major and a member of the BHSU Cross Country and Track and Field Teams. Gage tragically passed away in the summer of 2015 just prior to his final year of college and his final Cross Country Season.

This year's event is Saturday, September 21 in Spearfish City Park across from the pavilion. It will begin with a 1k Kid's Race for ages 10 and under, followed by the 3k/5k. The registration fee for the kid's race is $5 and all entered will receive a coupon for a cup of ice cream at Leones' Creamery!

The Registration Fee for the 3k/5k is a $15 minimum donation for students and $20 minimum donation for community members. Registration forms can be picked up at the information desk in the Young Center, or you can register on the day of the race/walk from 6:15-7 a.m. in front of the Pavilion. The Kid's Race will begin at 7:30 a.m., followed by the 3k/5k. 

Awards will be given to the top-three male and female overall finishers in the 5k, and there will be drawings for various prizes that everyone will have a chance to win. 100% of the proceeds will go to the Gage McSpadden Memorial Scholarship Fund!
