Brink, Osowski Named October Warriors of the Month

10/28/2020 11:46:00 AM

Black Hills State University has awarded Tayle Brink and Keith Osowski as its October Warriors of the month.

Currently it is scheduled to have the awardees honored at the November 22nd basketball doubleheader against Regis.

Brink is a senior BHSU Rodeo Student Athlete with strong leadership qualities who serves as a positive role model leading by example in and out of the arena. She is an ideal Women's Team Captain putting others needs ahead of her own and is a mentor within the team. She encourages her teammates and initiates conversation with younger team members to create a very welcoming environment. She works hard to improve her skills, is very coachable and considerate of others, and she is a great team player.

"When I think of Tayle, the first word that comes to mind is responsible," said Rodeo Coach Glen Lammers. "She is an excellent student and has always made her academics a priority maintaining a high GPA in her Professional Accountancy program. Tayle enjoys going to rodeos during the summer; however, this past summer she sacrificed some practice time and competitions to move to Sioux Falls and gain experience in an internship in her chosen career field."

Brink is involved in all Rodeo team fundraising and community service projects both on campus and in the local community. Tayle is very goal driven and determined to be the best she can be. Her commitment and perseverance have put her currently in the number one position in our Great Plains Region All-Around standings.

Osowski carries a 3.96 GPA while double majoring in Chemistry and Biology and recently won the Gage McSpadden Memorial Cross-Country Invite here in Spearfish. As a Junior, Keith not only provides the team with experience, but guidance and leadership as well.

Osowski has also been involved in many community service projects outside of athletics including being a part of the Teammates program, volunteering as a Christian Camp counselor for high schoolers in 2019, working with Lead-Deadwood Elementary students in building and programming a robot for a robotics competition in 2019, and helping with the Sheriff 5K in 2018 and 2019.

Currently Osowski is a SAAC representative for Cross-Country, and helps with programs such as trunk or treat, raising money for the polar plunge, and working on other new fundraisers.

In 2018, Osowski helped build trails for the community in his hometown of Kodiak, AK, with the local high school coaches.
