Comeback Extravaganza Moved to Young Center

8/20/2020 2:59:00 PM

Black Hills State University is set to host the BHSU Comeback Extravaganza Saturday, which will now be located inside the Donald E. Young Center.

The event will take place from 6-9 p.m., starting with a social hour at 6 p.m. and the main event beginning at 7 p.m., combining both the annual Scholarship Gala and Gold Rush Raffle to raise funds for athletics and academics.

Throughout the event, BHSU will be using a mobile bidding program. This will allow participants to bid virtually from the comfort of their homes. During the silent auction, bidders will receive notifications if they've been outbid. The live auction will be live streamed and will use the mobile bidding program as well. For more details, visit BHSUFoundation.org.

How to Bid
Save time at check-in by getting setup and start bidding before you arrive. Self-check in also help us maintain a COVID friendly setting.

Step 1: Download the 'Handbid' app
If you have an iPhone or Android, you can download the Handbid app from the Apple iTunes App Store or the Google Play store. Please note we strongly recommend you 'Accept notifications from this app' when you open it and join an auction. This will allow you to get push notifications for 'Outbid' messages during the auction.

Step 2: Tap 'Get Started' & create account
Next, you can create an account. From the App home screen, tap on 'Get Started' button and complete the information (please use your cell phone as the phone number). Tap 'Next' and
Handbid will text you a five-digit code. Enter this code to log in.

Step 3: Select 'Auction' from list & start bidding
Select 'BHSU Comeback Extravaganza Auction' from the list of auctions and swipe left to enter
the auction. Once in the auction, swipe left/right to access categories
and up/down to access items.

No smartphone? No problem
You will be able to access the auction through a web browser, HERE.

About the Event
In the past, BHSU has hosted two separate fundraising events, but due to COVID-19 the university decided to combine the two. The gala last year raised more than $160,000 and the raffle, an additional $47,000. All the funds go toward scholarships for academics and athletics.

Last year, the 2019 Gala fundraiser raised a record $164,000 for student scholarships and the Gold Rush Raffle & Auction netted over $47,000 for student-athlete scholarships.
