COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Black Hills State women's soccer fell to No. 12 UCCS, 5-0 Sunday afternoon at Mountain Lions Stadium.
The Yellow Jackets (2-7, 1-5 RMAC) had two shots on the day.
Taylor Hernandez had a shot on goal, and
Emma Avery also got a shot off.
Goalkeeper
Makayla Dannelly tallied six saves, while
Teagen Hartley grabbed two as the Yellow Jackets faced 24 shots as a team.
UCCS opened the scoring with an early goal at the 5-minute mark to take a 1-0 lead. The Mountain Lions would put up 11 more shots before halftime but couldn't get anything past the Yellow Jackets defense as the score held at 1-0 into halftime.
Out of the half, UCCS added two more to extend their lead to 3-0.
Taylor Hernandez got off a shot on goal at 53:33, but the Mountain Lion goalkeeper came up with the save before the ball found the lower left corner of the net.
UCCS scored twice more before time expired as BHSU fell 5-0.

The Yellow Jackets are back home next weekend as they're set to host Adams State on Friday, Oct. 15 at 3 p.m., and New Mexico Highlands on Sunday, Oct. 17 at 11 a.m.
