Black Hills State women's volleyball fell to #10 Colorado School of Mines in straight sets Friday night at the Donald E. Young Center on parents' night.
The Yellow Jackets lost set one (25-21), lost set two (25-17), and lost set three (25-20).
Leading the Yellow Jackets on offense was
Madison Hoopman recording 11 kills on the night.
Karly Marx was the teams assist leader tallying 32 assists in the match-up.
Haedyn Rhoades was the dig leader for BHSU recording 10.
Kindra Cerrone recorded two aces while
Madison Hoopman and
Peyton Bodemann each recorded an ace as well.
Bodemann recorded the lone solo block on the night.
The Yellow Jackets and Orediggers would play competitive ball to open set one with the score being tied six times before Colorado School of Mines would go on a five-point run to take the lead 11-6 over BHSU. The Orediggers would not give up that lead in route to a 25-21 set one victory over BHSU.
The Yellow Jackets would strike first in the second set but wouldn't hold onto the lead for long. The Orediggers would put up three straight points to take a 6-3 lead over the Yellow Jackets. The Orediggers would lead by as much as much as eight points in route to their 25-17 set two victory over the Yellow Jackets.
The Yellow Jackets and Orediggers would again stay competitive through the beginning of set three, but the Yellow Jackets would take the early advantage on a three-point run going up 8-5 over the Orediggers. Colorado Mines would then pull even at nine all before taking a two-point lead over the Yellow Jackets at 13-11. BHSU and Colorado Mines would stay competitive throughout the rest of the set, but the Yellow Jackets would be unable to pull ahead and would fall 25-20 in set three falling in straight sets to the Orediggers.
