Black Hills State volleyball opens the regular season at home against the South Dakota Mines Hardrockers Tuesday, Sept. 14 at 7:00 P.M.
The Yellow Jackets are coming off two preseason tournaments that saw BHSU win three games and lose five. Over the weekend the Yellow Jackets played four non-conference games losing three against Southwest Minnesota State, Emporia State, and Fort Hays State while winning their matchup against Cameron.
Madison Hoopman was a standout on the court in both of the Yellow Jackets preseason contests being named to the All-Tournament teams both tournaments. Throughout preseason play Hoopman racked up 97 kills and 104 points in 32 sets played.
Haedyn Rhoades and
Karly Marx were also dominate players in the Yellow Jackets line-up with Rhoades earning 158 digs in 32 sets played as the starting libero and Marx tallied 215 assists in 32 sets played for BHSU.
The Hardrockers also competed in two preseason tournaments racking up a 6-2 record throughout the preseason. The past weekend the Hardrockers competed at the Northern State Tournament winning their first three contests before falling in their last contest against Augustana University 1-3.
The last time the Yellow Jackets and Hardrockers faced off was March 12, 2021, in a contest that saw the Yellow Jackets defeat the Hardrockers in straight sets winning 25-16, 25-16, and 25-19.
