Soccer Home This Weekend to Host Colorado Mines, Regis

Black Hills State soccer hosts its first RMAC matches of the season this weekend, taking on Colorado Mines and Regis at Ronnie Theisz Field.

The Yellow Jackets will face Mines on Friday, Oct. 1 at 3 p.m. before returning to the pitch on Sunday, Oct. 3 to take on Regis at 11 a.m.

Coming off the opening RMAC weekend, BHSU went 1-1. A goal from Emma Avery assisted by Haley Hesselgesser, two freshmen, saw the Yellow Jackets defeat CCU. The team also had its first clean sheet of the season in the match which is a huge mark of progress for the defenders, who have now held the opposition scoreless in four of the 10 halves of soccer played this season.

Emma Avery goes into this weekend in the top 10 in the RMAC in shots, goals, and points.

"We have two difficult matchups ahead as we face Colorado Mines and Regis," said head coach Andrew Conniff. "Both programs come into the weekend with winning records and both opened this RMAC season with two wins. We are still growing and I believe we are better today than we were yesterday. We look forward to the challenge this weekend presents."
