Black Hills State women's soccer will be at Ronnie Theisz field this Friday to host Westminster at 3 p.m.

The team will also be celebrating Senior Day, honoring its seniors prior to kickoff.

The Yellow Jackets are currently 1-9-2 overall and 1-7 in the RMAC, while WC is 6-4-2 overall and 4-2-1 to sit fifth in the RMAC.

"Westminster is a very talented attacking team," said Head Coach Andrew Conniff. "They have the RMAC leader in assists and are very dangerous from set pieces. Westminster will present another challenge for us defensively, and hopefully some of our top performers can rise to the occasion."

Over the team's last two matches, the Yellow Jackets have averaged 10.5 shots and three shots on goal per game. Despite having scoring opportunities, the ball has not found the net – but Conniff thinks these chances will eventually lead to goals.

"We have been getting into good attacking opportunities but are struggling to create and finish chances from these positions," Conniff added. "Emma Avery and Darby Whiteley are responsible for more than half of our team's shots-on-goal this season and have been really unlucky not to see the ball hit the back of the net more often. Hopefully we can find an early breakthrough to give us some confidence, because so many pieces of our play have been great."

The team has also had a strong campaign from goalkeeper Makayla Dannelly, who leads the RMAC in saves per game (5.4) and ranks fourth in save percentage (.771), along with several key young contributors.

"We have had twelve underclassmen play over 250 minutes this season and have seen many of them continue to improve each week," said Conniff. "Freshmen Bresha Keegan and Leah Day have also been in great form and we are excited to see them perform against another tough RMAC opponent."

All-time, Yellow Jacket soccer is 0-6 against WC, having last played Oct. 22, 2021 in a 3-0 loss.
